Frequently Asked Questions
Learn about Arch Assist!
We know that when you’re inviting someone into your home, asking someone to help with your business, or arranging support for a family member, you want to know exactly what to expect.
We’ve answered some of the questions we get asked most often below. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, please get in touch. We’re always happy to have a chat about what you need.
What is Arch Assist?
Arch Assist provides practical, flexible support for businesses, individuals and families.
Our services cover three main areas: Business Support, Personal Assistance and Helping Hands. This could mean helping a business with administration, taking care of an errand, helping around the home, or simply providing an extra pair of hands when you need them.
What sort of jobs do you do?
We offer a wide range of services, from administration and document preparation to errands, collections, deliveries, garden tidying, weeding, decluttering and other practical jobs.
We don’t expect every job to fit neatly into a list. If you have something that needs doing, just ask. If it’s something we can safely and reasonably help with, we’ll be happy to discuss it with you.
Do I have to choose from the services listed on your website?
No.
Our website gives you an idea of the services we offer, but it’s not an exhaustive list. We understand that some of the jobs people need help with are a little unusual.
If you’re not sure whether we can help, get in touch and tell us what you need. We’ll let you know what we can do.
Where do you cover?
We’re based in St Neots and are happy to provide services throughout Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas, depending on the nature of the job.
Do you offer one-off jobs?
Yes.
We’re happy to help with one-off tasks as well as ongoing or regular support. Whether you need help with something today, have a project that needs completing, or simply need an extra pair of hands from time to time, we’ll work with you to find the right approach.
Can I book you regularly?
Yes.
Regular support can be arranged for businesses, individuals and families. This could be weekly, fortnightly, monthly or another arrangement that suits your needs and availability.
Please get in touch to discuss what you have in mind.
How much do you charge?
Our services start from a base rate of £17.50 per hour.
Because every job is different, the final price will depend on the service required, the time involved, materials or additional expenses where applicable, and whether the job is best priced hourly or as a fixed-price service.
We’ll explain the price before work begins so you know what to expect.
Do you offer fixed-price quotes?
Yes, where appropriate.
Some jobs are easier to price as a fixed amount, while others are more suitable for an hourly rate. We’ll let you know which approach we recommend and provide a quote where possible.
Is there a minimum booking?
Our minimum booking may depend on the type and location of the job.
We’ll confirm any minimum booking requirement or travel charge when we discuss your job with you.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel arrangements and any applicable travel charges will depend on the location and type of job.
As we’re based in St Neots and cover a wide area, we’ll always discuss any applicable travel costs with you before confirming the work.
Are materials included?
Materials are not automatically included in our hourly rate.
If your job requires materials, we’ll discuss what is needed with you beforehand. Where we purchase materials on your behalf, the cost of those materials may be added to your invoice.
How do I book?
You can contact us through our website, by email or by telephone.
Tell us what you need help with, where the work is located and, if possible, when you’d like it done. We’ll then discuss the job with you and let you know how we can help.
How far in advance do I need to book?
This depends on the type of work and our availability.
Some jobs can be arranged relatively quickly, while regular or larger pieces of work may need more notice. We’ll always do our best to accommodate your preferred date.
Do you offer urgent or same-day jobs?
We may be able to help with urgent jobs depending on availability.
We’re not an emergency service, but if something needs doing quickly, please get in touch and we’ll let you know whether we can help.
What happens if I need to cancel or rearrange?
We understand that plans can change.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment. Any cancellation or rearrangement terms will be explained when your booking is confirmed.
How can I pay?
We’ll confirm the available payment methods when your booking is arranged.
For business customers, invoicing arrangements can also be discussed for ongoing work.
Are you DBS checked?
DBS requirements vary depending on the service. Where a DBS check is required or appropriate, the person carrying out the work will hold the appropriate level and workforce check.
We’re happy to discuss DBS requirements and arrangements with customers who would like reassurance before booking our services.
Are you insured?
Yes. Arch Assist is insured for the services we provide.
If you would like further information about our insurance cover before booking, please ask and we’ll be happy to discuss it with you.
Do you have public liability insurance?
We maintain appropriate business insurance for the services we provide.
If you require confirmation of specific insurance cover for a particular job or business arrangement, please let us know before booking.
Will you have identification when visiting my home?
We want you to feel comfortable and confident when we visit.
We can provide appropriate business identification where required, and you’ll know who is attending before your appointment.
Can I trust you with keys to my property?
Where a regular service requires access to your property, we can discuss arrangements for holding or accessing keys.
Any key-holding arrangement will be agreed with you in advance and handled securely.
How do you protect my personal information?
We take your privacy seriously and handle your personal information responsibly and securely.
For full details of how we collect, use, store and protect your information, please see our Privacy Policy.
Do I need a contract?
Not necessarily.
One-off jobs can be arranged individually, while ongoing business support can be set up on an agreed basis. We’ll discuss the arrangement with you so that both sides know what is expected.
Can I book you for just a few hours a week?
Yes.
Our flexible approach means you can use Arch Assist for as much or as little support as you need.
This could be a few hours each week, occasional support when things get busy, or a one-off project.
Can you work remotely?
Yes.
Many administration services can be provided remotely, including data entry, document preparation, spreadsheets, research, email support and other administrative tasks.
Can you work from my office?
Depending on the job and location, we may be able to provide support at your premises.
Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Can you handle confidential business information?
Yes.
We understand that businesses may need to share confidential information with us in order for us to complete certain tasks. We take confidentiality and data security seriously and will only use information for the purpose for which it has been provided.
Can you help with a backlog of admin?
Absolutely.
If you’ve got a pile of paperwork, a spreadsheet that needs updating, customer records that need organising or a list of jobs you’ve been putting off, we’re happy to help work through it.
Can you do printing and mailing as well as the admin?
Yes.
Through our connection with Arch Printing, we can provide a complete service from preparing documents through to printing, finishing, addressing and mailing.
This means you can hand us a job and let us take care of the process from start to finish.
What sort of household jobs can you do?
Our Helping Hands service is designed for practical, everyday jobs around the home and garden.
Depending on the job, this can include:
- Weeding and garden tidying
- Decluttering and organising
- Flat-pack assembly
- Small household jobs
- Collections and deliveries
- Taking items to charity shops
- Waiting in for deliveries or tradespeople
- Changing light bulbs or batteries
- Hanging pictures or similar small jobs
- Other practical tasks
If you’re not sure whether something is within our scope, just ask.
Do you do gardening?
We can help with light garden maintenance and tidying, including jobs such as weeding, sweeping, clearing leaves, general garden tidying and jet washing of suitable outdoor surfaces.
We are not intended to replace a professional gardener or landscaper for larger or specialist work, but we’re happy to discuss smaller jobs that simply need an extra pair of hands.
Jet washing can also be booked as a standalone service for suitable patios, paths, paving and other outdoor areas.
Do you assemble flat-pack furniture?
We can help with suitable flat-pack assembly.
Before accepting the job, we’ll consider the size, complexity and location of the furniture to make sure it’s something we can safely undertake.
Do you take things to the tip?
We may be able to help with suitable collections and disposal.
Any disposal charges, vehicle requirements or restrictions will be discussed before the job is agreed.
We cannot accept or transport every type of waste, particularly hazardous or restricted materials.
Can you move furniture?
We can help with suitable light or manageable items where the job can be completed safely.
We won’t undertake work that requires specialist moving equipment, multiple people, or presents an unreasonable risk of injury or damage.
Can you put up shelves or pictures?
We can help with suitable small household tasks such as hanging pictures or similar items.
For anything involving significant structural work, specialist fixings, electrical wiring, plumbing or other specialist trades, we’ll recommend using a suitably qualified professional.
What jobs don’t you do?
We’re happy to consider a wide range of tasks, but safety comes first.
We won’t undertake work that requires specialist qualifications, presents an unacceptable risk, or falls outside our capabilities.
This may include specialist electrical, gas, plumbing, roofing, structural or other regulated work.
If we can’t safely undertake a job ourselves, we’ll tell you and, where possible, suggest that you use an appropriate specialist.
Do you provide care?
Arch Assist provides practical help and assistance, rather than regulated personal care.
Our services can include everyday practical tasks such as shopping, errands, paperwork, technology help, light household jobs, garden tidying and other assistance around the home.
If you require personal care or specialist care services, we recommend using an appropriately registered care provider.
Can you help an elderly relative who lives alone?
Yes.
This is an important part of the service we’re developing.
We can provide practical assistance such as shopping, errands, garden tidying, paperwork, technology help, waiting for tradespeople and other everyday tasks.
Regular visits can also be arranged where appropriate.
Can you provide updates to a family member after a visit?
Yes, with the customer’s permission.
For example, if you’re arranging help for an older relative, we can provide a simple update following an agreed visit so that you know what has been done and whether there is anything that needs your attention.
We’ll always respect the customer’s privacy and only share information that we’ve agreed to share.
Can you take someone to an appointment?
This will depend on the circumstances and the type of appointment.
If you require transport or accompaniment, please contact us before booking so that we can discuss exactly what is needed and whether it is something we can safely provide.
Can you collect prescriptions?
Prescription collection may be possible in certain circumstances, but this will depend on the pharmacy, the prescription and the arrangements required.
Please contact us before booking so we can establish what is involved.
Is Arch Assist part of Arch Printing?
Yes.
Arch Assist is an Arch Printing company.
Arch Printing continues to provide printing services, while Arch Assist provides business support, personal assistance and practical helping-hand services.
The two businesses can also work together where it makes sense for the customer.
Can I use Arch Printing and Arch Assist together?
Absolutely.
One of the benefits of having both services is that we can take care of a job from start to finish.
For example, if you need a customer mail-out, Arch Assist can help prepare the documents and information, while Arch Printing can print, finish, address and prepare everything for posting.
Can you help with something that isn’t listed on your website?
Probably!
We don’t expect every job to fit neatly into a list.
If you’ve got something that needs doing, tell us what it is and we’ll let you know whether we can help.
If it’s safe, legal and within our capabilities, we’ll be happy to discuss it with you. If it’s not something we can do, we’ll be honest about it and, where possible, point you in the right direction.
Just ask. You might be surprised what we can help with.
